chucking.it

I can't believe it!!

It's 5pm and the sky opens to chuck everything down. Seriously chucking.

All the animals are out to play.

Great. Just great.

baggage

Don’t let your past dictate who you are,
but let it be part of who you will become

Every one of us carried baggage one time or another in our lifetime.

I’m not excluded in any way.

This morning, I decided to tackle this baggage and leave it where it should be - out of my life.

I would go into details but perhaps it is better not to.

Or perhaps it would be better?

Keeping it within me has driven me to experience all sorts of emotion. This one incident in my life has definitely changed my perspective and outlook on many things for a good long time since then.

This morning, I said to myself that it is about time I declutter this part of my life, this past, and everything that is associated with it.

Although I can’t change the past, but I’m not going to let it dictate my future. And I know for sure, this is sure one helluva past I want to get rid of!

lightning.&.thunders

For the first time in many years, I'm experiencing lightning and thunders.

Interestingly while living in Aberdeen, there is hardly any of the above.

But not this evening. There were lots of it. I don't understand why I was still walking in that pouring rain to the optician and then to the doctors.

In normal tropical circumstances, people stay away from being out in the rain. People try to be at a lower point as possible. People stay away from trees.

But what was I doing? Walking in the pouring cats and dogs, monkeys and bear rain, and skipping along the pavement trying to avoid the puddles!

Chance-ing it? I don't think so...

Anyways, there was this pain while the rain come chucking down. Then I realised it was hailstones!

Great, pouring barnyard animals and all sorts, now hailstones are thrown in for good measure.

By the time I reached the doctor, I was soaking wet. My boots all wet, my coat all wet, my bag wet, my phone strap wet, my clothes wet, and all this, with an umbrella.

Lovely South West weather.

I can only thank God that the experience didn't repeated itself when I left the doctors. Nonetheless...

embarrassing bodies

Yesterday marks the begining of Channel 4 Embarrassing Bodies week.

Every night this week, there will be an episode featuring health issues that we should be aware of or not to worry about.

It is quite gory in its own way.

There is a reason that it is called 'embarrassing bodies/illnesses'.

The programme is hosted by three (photogenic/tellygenic) doctors - Dr. Dawn Harper, Dr. Pixie McKenna (how cool is a name like Pixie?), and the yummyliscious Dr. Christian Jensen (oops! - *covers mouth and giggle myself silly*).

Yesterday's episode started with the doctors setting up a consultation cabin smack in the middle of Leeds. There they invited the public for a health consultation.

Now, one thing I can't fanthom is that, why people are too embarrassed to go and see their GP (General Practitioner) about their embarrassing conditions but are able to show warts, puss and all - no matter which part of their body on tv for the whole nation to see?!

Perhaps it is the convenience that you don't need to make an appointment to go and see a doctor? (Something I still can't really accept)

Perhaps the tv doctors are pretty and good looking?

Perhaps it's easier to show it to a stranger?

Perhaps the camera gives you super-courage?

Perhaps that three second of fame?

For whatever reason, those people must be commended on their courage and willingness to share their bodies with the nation.

You see, had these people kept their conditions to themselves, we, the viewers will not be educated that some things are not as worrying as it is. After all quoting Dr. McKenna, 'People worry themselves to death over something that could be sorted out in five minutes'.

Have a look at the website, there are information and even videos where you can even have a self diagnose.

misinformed

Celtic's Shunsuke Nakamura or Nakamura is obviously Japanese.

Don't the name says it all?!

To the unknown or unfamiliar, it is difficult for them to differentiate between a Chinese and a Japanese.

Clearly someone has been misinformed at last night's Old Firm clash.

Perhaps some (very itsy bitsy percentage of) Japanese eat dog food but they don't eat dogs!

Duh... -_-"

(Than what I'm feeling now.)
I'm very sure of this.

marketeer's dream

The Mothership Parent Company recently rebranded.

And we the minions each received a marketing pack.

I must say that everything was done very well. I like the dinosaur, I mean chameleon or salamendar. I don't think the company would be pleased for me to call 'Sally' the dinosaur, but ain't she cute? Soo cuuute...

The items in the pack were very useful as well.

Can't help thinking that I'm such a sucker for packaging!

experiment

I've been carrying out an experiment since last week on travel expenses.

Nothing that great. But just to find out how much I actually spend on travelling.

All this while, I buy a monthly travel card for two zones at £49.80 for four weeks.

I wanted to find out how much I am actually spending on travelling.

So far, week one:
Sunday: Bus from town to go home: £1.20
Monday: Train to work return: £2.95
(Long story why this price will be different from the reoccuring trip)
Tuesday: Train from work to home: £1.40
Wednesday: Didn't pay for train to work and got a ride home with Iain: £0
Thursday: Went to work late and got a cheap day return: £1.50
Friday: Didn't pay for train to work and got a lift with Jim into town.

In total, I spent £7.05 for the week.

If I take a monthly pass, it will cost me £12.45 per week. And a weekly pass will cost me about £13.80.

Buying tickets as and when I require has some drawbacks as well.

Among those are the it is not as flexible as having to flash your travel pass. Journeys have to be preplanned so to maximise the cost effectiveness.

Then you need to either have change all the time for the bus or cash for the train. Actually, you can pay by card on the train. So it is not that bad, for the train.

I think it isn't that bad. I guess I shall stick to buying tickets for now. Let's see how.

Anyways, note to self, the next time if the train is cancelled or I'm late, just take the next train or the bus.

I didn't take the bus today because I didn't have enough change. So I took the train to Glasgow Central and then walk to Queens Street. Should have got off at Argyle Street instead. Got a bit lost at Central finding my way out. It is such a huge station!

Anyways, yes, taking the next train from Anniesland compared to wasting all this time gets me to work at the same time.

Honestly it's more hassle than it's worth.

Of course, if I took the bus, I would have been in here 10-20 mins earlier. Oh well...

Still, I got in to work.

olympic.circus

Headlines on Monday’s Metro: Sports stars, 2,000 police, protesters (plus Denise Van and the Sugababes) turn torch procession into a... 5-ring circus.

I find it somewhat fascinating and curious to all the riots and protests by pro-Tibetan groups/individuals.

It is quite sad actually to see civilians and even monks fighting for their rights. It really humbles us on our day to day lives that we so often take for granted our freedom and rights.

However, I do believe that there is always a place and time for everything, protests included.

The London leg of the torch relay was quite a shambles really. I do agree with the above headline, why is there non sports personality carrying the torch?

To add some ‘glamour’? Sports personalities are not good enough? Who knows?!

Then you get these torch protectors. The Chinese team of torch protectors in their blue tracksuits, with, get a hold of this a waist pouch!

Don’t you think they look rather ridiculous?

Apparently, their task is to ensure that the flame does not go out, light it up again if it does, but to circle around the torch bearer? Honestly!

I wonder do they really don’t put out the flame of the torch, even on the plane? Apprently they don't.

And I read somewhere that there is always one person (the flame protector) stays awake to guard the torch. Hmmm... again.

This round of torch relay is somewhat interesting.

In the sense that either there are lots of people lined along the road waiting with anticipation and excitement for the torch to come through, or a road barricaded with ‘actors - innocent-enough-not-demonstrating-or-protesting school children waving flags of China’ welcoming the torch.

The various additional fanfare and banners of protests.

The various antics of protestors demonstrating on the relay path.

Possibly the first torch relay on a bus and boat?

And the broadcast of the torch relay on China’s telly that omits any footage of protesting/ demonstration.

Talk about a closed country. Talk about interesting(!).

Not being pro-Chinese or pro-human rights or pro-Tibetans, why in the world did China received the votes to carry out the Olympics in the first place??!!

And as wrong as China is, as well as those who want their voices heard, this is the Olympics for goodness sake!

An event where continents are united through sports. Where the sporting ideals are being celebrated. Where great sporting talents are being recognised. Where people are brought together for the good for sportsmanship.

And the Olympic flame is supposed to be a symbol of peace. So where's the peace then?

Like I say, there is always a time and place. I’m not sure if I’m even looking forward to the 2008 Olympics anymore.

la vita รจ bella

Friday’s bus journey up north was quite a pleasant one.

It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, it was good to travel in light, and I was awake most of the journey.

I love the Scottish landscape. There is something about it that is so beautiful.

Perhaps the brown and plum colours of the highlands that captivates me.

Perhaps the rolling green and earth coloured fields that mesmerises me.

Perhaps it is the beautiful blue, pink and violet coloured sky that is spellbinding.

Most of the fields are painted in various hue of green. Some fields between Dundee and Aberdeen were covered in yellow, signs of rapeseed flowers in bloom.

Some fields were occupied by sheep, ewes, and lambs.

The lambs were so cuuute. So young. Interestingly, I noticed that most ewes have two lambs. Does this means that the lambs are twins? Hmmm...

The light and beautiful palette of colours reminded me of my trips to and fro Aberdeen and Glasgow last year.

Almost eight months now.

So many changes happened in such a short time.

A job that brought me 160 miles away from Aberdeen.
A new home and a new weekend home.
New friends and colleagues.
New experiences.
Trials and challenges.
Different lifestyle.
A visit from my sister.

And how can I forget, a great guy in my life!

Although we had rather awful weather for the weekend, I’m looking forward to my bus journeys.

Colourful sensory indulgence and a season of life and growth.

Life couldn’t be better.

bored

This is terrible...

I knew the top guys are away for two days for some business planning-away day.

So I was saying to Iain the other day that I will go to work late and go home early. After all, it is not a busy period for me. Not until next week. Then I can be hardworking-goody-goody-no-home-to-go-stay-back-work-late mode.

The beauty of my job is that I have two super busy weeks and then two ‘relaxing’ weeks. The relaxing weeks are supposed for me to catch up with work/things I have neglected or shelved during the two busy weeks.

I had been very busy for the past two months, what with the financial year end, Suemae’s visit, and any other excuses and reasons there is/are/was/were and anything else I can think of.

Side tracked there...

Yes, so I said about the coming in to work late and going home early.

But, I didn’t realised that I would come into work sOoOoOoo late today!

10:15am!

And I actually woke up before the alarm went off at 5:57am!!!

Ideally, I should be in for 8:30am. But the train only leaves Anniesland at 8:25am, I’m only at my desk about 8:45am.

The good thing is that we are flexible here.

Okay, should not be as flexible as 10:15am!

Am really misusing the trust and flexibility here. Bad BAD girl!

But, I is so bored. @_@

Yesterday LineManagerMark and PMToni said to me ‘don’t work too hard!’ while they are away. Yeah... Don’t worry I’m not.

PMToni called during lunchtime and checked that I wasn’t on the internet idling away doing nothing. So happened I wasn’t at that time, I was typing out an email. And guess what PMToni was going to do??? He was waiting to go on the ATV and then later clay pigeon shooting!

@.@ Lucky for some!!!

Anyways, I’m so bored. I don’t know what I’m randomly writing here. Catch up on my blog(s) reading which I haven’t done for eons, to find out that so much has happened to so many people.

But honestly, I should be keeping my head low and diving into my APC stuff.

So far this week I had been good, interspersing work and my APC stuff. *Gentle pat on the back*

Thank God that my Six Month Supervisor and Counsellor Review has been postponed, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to complete what is required for the review.

I’ve still have a bit to finish on my diary.

I’ve come up with some templates for the competencies since I was told that I need to do a little write up so that Colin will sign off my competencies level completed.

I’ve come up with some notes on what I should look out for, key issues, etc; for my critical analysis project, which I have sort of chosen but not yet prepare a case on it... yet.

I’ve actually a lot to do but what am I doing skiving when I have such good opportunity to catch up?! O_o???

I want to snuggle in my cosy cosy bed with Horace.

I want to lounge on the couch and watch DVD(s). Wait, I need a new DVD player. Okay I can watch it on my media centre. (>.<)

I want to just do nothing. (The weather is getting colder this weekend for some snow, so much for Sunshine and Happiness. . .)

I want a holiday in the sun!

embarrassing

I just left the office, walking along the works buildings towards the train station when a 4WD stopped beside me.

Then I saw who the driver was. My colleague-neighbour-one of the guys, Iain.

So I opened the passanger side door and started to climb in.

Iain: Do you need a lift??
ennazus: *embarrassed that didn't even ask, and all I can do is laugh*

I can just imagine my friend, Deva saying 'em-bear-res-sing'.

Nice car tho! Mitsubishi shogun. Iain left his Audi and took the 4WD as he was going out to a 'mountainous' site tomorrow.

moooo matters

I came upon this term the other day: Chief Operating Officer.

Wikipedia defines the Chief Operating/Operations Officer (COO) as a corporate officer responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the corporation. He/she is also responsible for operations management.

In short, they are known as the COO. In Scotland a Coo is a highland cattle.

Aren’t they the cutest!

A cow refers to a female bovine.

However, if you call a person a ‘cow’, it means that you are calling them names, fat, ugly, stupid... mainly used in reference to the female species.

So if you dislike the COO and say she is not the brightest, can you call her a cow??

What if it is a guy? An ox? A buffalo?

Of course, if one can hold that position, I’m sure they are nowhere as close as a cow.

Honestly, I shouldn’t be name calling or even spending time thinking about things like this...
